HIVE 101

What is HIVE 2020?

HIVE is Open Up Resources’ annual conference. Due to the unprecedented circumstances of COVID-19, educators will convene and connect virtually as a community in 2020 to cross-pollinate learnings then return to the field to do the work.

We’re all worker bees in the effort to increase equity in education, and HIVE is our hub for the mission.

When is HIVE 2020?

Programming for all pathways will be held over 5 days:

  • Tuesday, June 23
  • Wednesday, June 24
  • Tuesday, July 7
  • Tuesday, July 14
  • Tuesday, July 21

What does it mean for HIVE to “go virtual?”

The entire professional learning event, including all coffee chats, thought-provoking keynotes and interactive workshops will be hosted virtually via the Zoom platform. Each session will be live, interactive, and recorded.

How is HIVE different from other K-12 conferences?

At HIVE, you can expect:

  • 5 sessions of professional learning, facilitated by authors/experts/users of the curriculum
  • Opportunity to connect with the expert authors of our curricula
  • Enlightening keynotes by K–12 experts
  • Connect with other practitioners who believe in the power of high-quality curricula virtually and through interactive exercises
  • Become part of the Open Up Resources community which serves as a support network throughout the school year
  • Small cohorts for all sessions will maximize interactions and learning
  • Sessions will incorporate best practices for remote learning to model the possibilities of using the curriculum digitally with students

What curriculum pathways are available?

Math and ELA curricula will all have curriculum-specific / level-specific pathways. We are building schedules for all 9 original pathways now. See a full list of pathways here.
